Schubert’s gems   Kristian Bezuidenhout – fortepiano

Kristian Bezuidenhout is one of the leading players of various keyboard instruments, especially fortepianos. His interpretations of works from the Classical and Romantic periods, including Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Schubert, are highly acclaimed and have been part of the musik+ experience before. After a long interval, he is once again in our programme, devoting himself to Franz Schubert as the master of the miniature. In addition to his great sonatas, Schubert wrote countless ländler, waltzes, minuets, fantasies and other single movements. They offer incredible musical clarity in brevity, not a note too many, not a note too few. In this concert, Kristian Bezuidenhout introduces us to some of these gems – from the earliest surviving piano piece written by Schubert as a 14-year-old to an allegretto composed a few months before his death. The highlight of the evening is the Piano Sonata in E flat major, D 568, performed on a historic Graf fortepiano.
