Dialogue of the Souls Orient-Okzident
Hespérion XXI, Jordi Savall
One of the most tragic defects of the human being is his great capacity for forgetfulness, as Milan Kundera recalls in his work, “The Book of Laughter and Forgetfulness”: “the murder of Allende soon overshadowed memories of the Russian invasion of Bohemia; Allende made us forget the bloody massacre in Bangladesh; the war in the Sinai Desert overshadowed the crying of Bangladesh; the massacre in Cambodia made us forget Sinai, and so on, until everything is completely forgotten by everyone.”
Jordi Savall
Since his musical beginnings in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Jordi Savall has explored the richly varied Spanish musical tradition in a multicultural and religious context. The dialogue between cultures and their unifying elements lie at the centre of his musical quest. With the language of music, a dialogue of souls among music, musicians (of the most diverse origin and culture) and the public, we will rebuild intellectual and spiritual bridges through the power of music.
